If you are going to pursue a career in computer animation then make sure you are well aware of the skills and training you are going to have to have in order to break into the job market. There are many opportunities in this field to obtain some gainful employment and there is no doubt not going to be any shortage of competition. Give yourself the leading edge by seeking out what is required to land that lucrative job.

The bottom rung of the ladder that you will need to start at is having good knowledge of your computer in general. There is no point in going any further until you have mastered this step. This along with the software is going to be your primary equipment. It does not stop here just because you are going to be well versed in understanding and using technology you still have to know the basic and fundamentals of art. You are the one that has to direct the software as to what to do. Once you give it proper instructions then it will do the work for you. It is almost like delegating your authority. It is from these two foundations of art that your creativity will flourish. The computer will not generate your creativity. It will be the means of expressing it though.

As you gain in knowledge, you will move into the segment of 2D and 3D designing by illustrations and technical skills. These are going to be the skills the will lead into your digital media endeavors.

With so many powerful software packages available on the market today it would be near impossible to learn and master them all. It is also not likely to determine what company is using what software. So how can you land a job if you are not familiar with the programs they are working with? At one time, this may have been an issue but is no longer the case. The software on the market today is so easy to work with that potential employers have no problems in teaching you the programs. They are more interested in your ability to be able to use the software to its maximum potential. This is where skill requirement comes into play. Naturally, you should not the basics of computer animation software as they all enjoy the same foundation.

Your skills do not end when you get up from your computer. You are going to be working constantly with other departments and people. Therefore, you must have good people skills and be a team player. If you are proficient in this then it is going to hold you back in your career. You must always be open to suggestions regarding your particular field of expertise and do not become over opinionated.

Now knowing what you are going to need by way of skills is going to better help you choose a school that is going to equip you will that you will require. Choose one that is established and has a good reputation. This will be most certainly recognized in the industry. It will hold well when you apply for employment.
