Works fine, screen is easy to read and manoeuver, nice color, but a bit slow. Wouldn’t use it for business on a regular basis but is okay for vacations and occasional use. I’ve only had it a few weeks… no problems yet.

Acer Aspire One AOA150-1447 8.9-Inch Netbook (1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 Processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, XP Home, 6 Cell Battery) Sapphire BluePurchased for xmas 2008 from sams club. Screen went blank. Called customer service line. Got tech who could barely speek english and had to repeat himself many times. He had me try to update the bios. Did not work. Had to call customer service again. Another tech who you could not understand. He faxed info on how to return item. Returned item as instructed. Contacted by repair center that stated that the LCD was broke and that was “Customer Abuse” which was not covered by the 1 year warranty. Contacted customer service. They stated the same thing over and over in broken english. I told them that my wife and I both have laptops (both dell) that we have had for over 5 years now. These laptops are carted in and out of the schools that we work in every day and used by handicaped children who beat and bang them. We have had no issues with the LCD or any other functions. The Acer One was used strictly at home on a very limited basis and sits on our end table next to the couch and has never been dropped or abused in any way. I told them that our work laptops endure 10x the abuse and they have no LCD problems. THERE RESPONSE WAS THAT YOU CAN DAMAGE A LCD SCREEN BY SIMPLY CLOSING THE LAPTOP TO HARD OR PRESSING ON THE CASE. APPARENTLY THAT IS THE ISSUE WITH AN ACER BECAUSE MY OTHER LAPTOPS SEEM TO HOLD UP JUST FINE. I QUESS IF YOU WANT A LAPTOP THAT YOU DON’T TOUCH – DON’T OPEN AND CLOSE AND PRETTY MUCH DON’T USE THE ACER ONE WOULD BE FOR YOU.——TAKE MY WORD DON’T BY AN ACER–QUALITY IS POOR AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AN INTERPUTER IF YOU CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE OR JUST HAVE THEM EMAIL THE SCRIPT THEY READ TO ALL CUSTOMERSAcer Aspire One AOD150-1165 10.1-Inch Sapphire Blue Netbook – 6.5 Hour Battery Life

Best Netbook Iknow in terms of performance.

Buy it, if you need a Small Practical second device.

Instead of another Pocket PC, I got a Netbook
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
After my Pocket PC couldn’t be taken off of life support (aka the battery wouldn’t take a charge anymore, and I couldn’t find a replacement battery for it again.) I decided to get a Netbook instead. All the functions of a Pocket PC with a boat load more. Easy to set up, simple to use, and so lightweight, it fits into my shoulder bag, and small leather back pack. With a mobile wireless it becomes a great portable way to stay connected.

With the SD and expansion slots, it has become my mobile photo lab. Take photographs, review, edit, adjust and upload without having to wait until you come home.

Can play DVD quality AVI files. The screen is a bit reflective out of doors, but a protective screen cover (something I heartily recommend getting) will cut that problem down.

Took a while to get accustomed to the smaller keyboard layout, but that was not a big problem.

My only issue with this was you have to take it into a computer shop to have the memory maxed out. The design for expanding the memory wasn’t well planned out, and an access panel should have been designed into the underside of the netbook.

I also recommend getting the 6 or 9 cell battery to make it well and truly a ‘daily use’ portable, as one of the many complaints of notebook and netbook users is 3 hr battery life.

I used to hate lugging my old laptop around, it was heavy and the battery never lasted long enough. If you buy this with the larger 6 hour battery option, it’s cheaper then adding it later. This neat little number fits in your purse and has a pretty powerful WiFi receiver, I take it grocery shopping to Safeway to look up recipe ingredients!!

The only drawback is the small screen. Your eyes get a bit tired with extended viewing. I highly recommend it though for people on the go and it’s great for travel.

This is my second unit…first one was stolen so I immediately replaced with same model. Small, easy to carry, works very well.

    Not fabulous..

I bought this product in April, 2009. I began to use it in May, and I must admit from the moment I started it up it seemed a little slow. I thought it was just because it was loading everything for the first time, but my sisters seemed to think it should have been better. Well, it went strong for a little while, but then quickly deteriorated. It began to get really slow, and then the odd time wouldn’t let me open my files. My picture, computer, all of those. Then it wouldn’t let me open them at all. Said there was a error with windows, and that I needed to send and error report, but if i tried to send the error report my whole computer would freeze, and I’d need to restart. My computer became very slow, and now it won’t even turn on! It’s been that way for about 2 months now, and every time I try to turn it on it flashed a blue screen error. Unfortunately, I had a lot of pictures and files on it. I wouldn’t recommend this product. It definitely brought Acer down in my estimation.

Excellent NetBook Performs Better Than Expected
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I got the Acer Netbook primarily so I wouldn’t have to carry around my large laptop when all I needed to do was check my email or browse the Internet. I didn’t really expect much considering the size and price of the Netbook. However, my expectations have been exceeded. Instead of a long review, I will just list my thoughts about the Pros and Cons for you.

    Pros

    -Price is reasonable

-Unit is small enough to carry anywhere comfortably

-Keyboard is decent size, not hard to use

-Built-In wireless makes connecting at Hot Spots a cinch

-Large Hard Drive to hold plenty of data

-USB port so you can use a thumb-drive for storage as well

-USB port can also be used for wireless device such as AT&T Wireless Connect

-If computer is ever lost or stolen, you are out only a few hundred instead of several hundred to thousands

    Cons

    – Battery life is not very long

    – Keyboard is smaller than average

    – Screen is a lot smaller than you may be used to

    – Not meant to be powerful so don’t expect to run Photoshop or Huge games smoothly!

    – Lifespan probably won’t be as long as a normal computer

These are my observations after using the unit now for quite a few months.

I found the unit to be more than I expected, thus I am a happy customer.

However, if you are expecting a powerful little laptop that does everything well, I’d suggest looking elsewhere…

    I loved it……………….. until
    Rating:2 out of 5 stars
I ordered this 10/15/2008.. got it loved it…. then just two weeks ago the web cam crashed.. I followed instructions on Acer’s website to no avail, the website KNEW the situation required service … SOOOO I called tech support and I was told “Sorry” you net book went out of of warranty on 10/7/2009!? (I ordered it 10/15/2008). If you want to send it in for repair it will call $200.00 !”

I was floored.. and saddened, as the webcam broke just before I had it for a year, I was out of town on a business trip and called them when I got home. I guess this is the first and last ACER I buy.

It has worked okay on my road trips other then on occasion the wireless fails and I have to reboot. Now the webcam needs service… makes it hard to skype my family when I travel.. This really sucks….

    Fantastic!

    Pros:

Battery life last a long time. I would say it averages about 6 hours.

    Price. Affordable.

Small and lightweight. I can carry it easily with books in my bag. My other laptop consumes a lot of space and weighs twice as much.

Never had a problem with it.

    Cons:

Small was a pro, but also a con. Typing in long intervals can become a pain due to the small key board.

I wouldn’t recommend this if it’s your only computer due to the keyboard size.

If you don’t lay it on a hard flat surface, this baby gets hot. Since the exhaust vents are along the bottom, if you place this on a soft surface (your lap, the couch, your bed, a pillow, etc.) it cannot vent properly. I would bet that’s why some people rated this so low claiming failure. The motherboard probably overheated.

I love it, and if you treat this laptop with some common sense you will love it too.

**Note, I wouldn’t necessary call this a “netbook” due to the lack of a solid state hard drive. Due to its size people call it as such, but actually, it’s just a small laptop. You won’t find a 160gb netbook, solid state laptop for this price!

I received this as wonderful Christmas gift! Lucky me! I am very happy with it. It boots really fast & is so conviently sized! I love being able to grab it and go. I got the saphire blue with the 6 cell battery, 1.6 GHz processor, 1 GB Ram, 160 GB hard drive. This little cutie blows my old laptop away!

My biggest peeves are the size of the keyboard, I have to adjust to the smaller size & in the meantime, hit the wrong keys a lot. When I then go home to my desk top, I hit the wrong keys on the bigger keyboard. Back and forth I go! Not the end of the world, but frustrating. I guess it keeps the noggin healthy! Another peeve is the lack of a CD/DVD drive. Very inconvient. My husband got me an external one & that solved my problems like a charm! The external is a breeze to hook up & has worked out very well. My last peeve is the anti-virus is only a month. Or was it 3? Anyway, that sucks. It would have been nice to have at the very least 6 months.

Overall I am absolutely thrilled with my little lap-top & would totally get another one! I tell others that they are worth having, but some people don’t think they would like something so little. I’m little, I’m girly, I like cute little girly things that work well & are easy to use. I love my acer Aspire One!

i have had my acer aspire one for just about a year and i must say that i am very happy with it. i use it in school for taking notes and it is nice because it doesnt take up much room on the table. I do with that the speakers were a little bit louder but they are good enough for sitting in the student lounge doing homework. also there are some issues i have with the standby but its nothing i cant deal with. the internet is pretty quick considering its size but facebook, netflix, and my schools websites come in fast and allow me to get my work done quickly. all in all this has been a nice dependable little laptop that lets me study and socialize all at the same time.

Does everything I bought it for – it’s an easy to use, small, fast, very lightweight computer than i can use in class or in meetings without having a huge laptop screen block out my vision.

    Very satisfied with this product.

    Have Mini, Can’t Communicate
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I like the size, color and speed but have not been able to successfully connect to the internet. I have had computer savy people work with it without success so at the moment the mini is a glorified photo storage device, albeit a fast storage device. However, without the internet, it won’t be doing much traveling which was the intent of the purchase. My laptop is an Acer and I’ve had no problems so was surprised that the mini is causing me such grief.
